Would be grateful if someone could help me. I have a push button flush toilet with the cistern concealed in a cabinet. Recently when I push the Flush button, the button gets stuck and I have to unscrew the panel to push it out again. I had the plumber over today and he said 'the part which pushes the air through the air tube is knackered' and it will be about month before he can get another replacement part in'. I asked him how am I supposed to flush the toilet in the interim, he told me to blow into the air tube (I am serious).
Is there anywhere, where I can buy the replacement part myself ( I don't have a name, but I can take a photo and e-mail it to anyone who can help me name it). Also, if I cant get a replacement part in the near future, is there a temporary fix......is there anything else I can do to stimulate air going through the air pipe to ensure the toilet flushes ?

A hypodermic syringe (without needle) will give enough "puff"to the flushing mechanism and get you "moving" till a spare part is found .

Had exactly the same problem - and yes, blowing down the tube will work, but doesn't look good.....With mine it wasn't the air seal at all, but the return spring - the coiled spring that pushes the button back out again to its rest place (and charges the air tube with air again, ready for the next push). Yours may not have the same mechanism - but with mine, after much fiddling, stretching the spring out to make it more resistant to the push seemed to work.

Take it apart and then wrap sticky parcel tape around the rubber part (which has perished) to seal it. It will work until you get your new part.

give the pushbutton assembly a squirt of wd40 or similar
lso check pipework to the siphon for lakage or breaks
