how can i fix the starter motor on my vauxhall astra 1.6 envoy 1999?

my starter motor is not working i have been told by a garage to give it a tap but i dont know where to locate it

starter motor is connected directly to the flywheel end of the engine it looks like a large motor because thats what it is. nowadays they are dispensable though and generally if problem, get new one.
