The problem I have is that the house I have just moved into has a scantronic 9930 fitted and I have no details for it what so ever, no codes, no manuals, nothing. I have tried to contact the previous tenant but have had very little help from him so here I am to see if there is any wonderfully minded person out there who can give me the info I need to start using my alarm to protect me? Much appreciated.

you need to get it checked, and is likely to cost you a few quid but not too much - its a very good system (its still being installed and all parts are still available) and its most likely that you have a trapped cable that is causing a short circuit or tripping the sensor.
