flashing red light ?

Please, Help! - there is a flashing red light behind the control panel - after the machine has done the cycle - ( noticed as no light was put on one pm in kitchen! ),
only way to, Stop - is when it is switched off at the
socket -
Is this normal ?

I have been assured that this is normal for a Zanussi
all other appliances in flat are working

Please reassure/advice. Thanks for your time
