I had a similar problem - took it to the garage as was told that the battery needed replacing, but the problem was still there with the new battery - it would start from cold but after driving it for a while if I turned the ignition off, I would not be able to re-start it and would hear a ticking noise coming from the engine. Had the starter motor replaced and this had fixed the problem.
