old suffolk punch petrol lawnmower?

starts up when iput a small amount of petrol before i put plug back then runs for just 5 seconds this lawnmower is at least 20 years old and still has plenty of life left on cylinder and bottom blade

Remove carb. Strip down. Clean ultrasonically. Replace using new gaskets.
