im just assuming that the retaining clip has detatched from the joint causing the seperation. you will have to strip the brake and suspension assembly(you may also have to loosen the bottom ball joint for easier removal) and remove the whole driveshaft for inspection. place a tray underneath the joint which is still at the gearbox and use a prybar or large screwdriver to prise the joint away from the box. the tray should catch any gear oil which will seep out.inspect the shaft and the joint. MY ADVICE TO YOU IS TO DISCARD THE WHOLE ASSEMBLY AND INVEST IN A NEW DRIVESHAFT OR RECONDITIONED UNIT. THIS IS BECAUSE THERE MAYBE INTERNAL DAMAGE TO THE JOINT WHICH CANNOT BE SEEN. if you attempt to reuse the existing shaft and joint it may seperate while you are driving which is DEADLY!!!. if you do manage to refit succesfully dont forget to fill the gearbox with gear oil.i would invest in getting a haynes manual or visit your local library and making a photo copy of the relevant section. remember to use axle stands and not just a jack. BE SAFE!! best of luck my friend
