My Roca cistern is leaking into the toilet pan?

Mine started leaking after 10 years from new - hard water area. The bottom washer had loose scale, which I removed thoroughly with a nail brush and water. The washer was still supple and appeared perfect. This worked fine. I leave the top plastic screw slightly loose, as this otherwise seems to cause leakage by lifting the whole unit.

Excellent service from Kingsway Plumbing even if their p+p is a tad over the top.

I have tried everything suggested here (thanks for your time). The new washer didn't correct the leak and, having adjusted and fiddled around until I started to go loopy, I have ended up with either button only working when held down and a leak that stops after 3-4 minutes.

If there are any further suggestions on how to resolve the leak properly, I'd be pleased to read of them.

I'm yet another person with Roca cistern hassles (4 year old cisterns) – it took me an age to find a phone number for Roca - it's 01530 830080. They were so quick with the part number they must have had it stuck to the screen!

The previous answers were really helpful, so cheers. If it helps anyone else I actually removed the rubber washer used boiling water to remove any scale and I also found hard scale on the plastic rings either side of the rubber washer. Removing the scale from these using edge of a screwdriver and boiling water again.

Now I get that suction noise just after the flush when the rubber washer reseals that I had just forgotten all about until it came back!

I thought it was me going mad with a self flushing loo until I saw this site. Anyhow I took the lid off the cistern - push down 1 silver plunger and remove the other, then remove the first. Undo black screw.

As soon as I'd lifted lid the ghost flushing stopped. so I put the lid back and then replaced the screw but did not tighten it too much. Replaced plungers and it seems to have done the trick.

Can only think a tightened screw was pushing the plunger down too much - so try this before replacing things

Hey there

I too have had the same problem with the Roca Flush.....just figured what the problem is.....and how to resolve it.....

*IF its not the rubber washer (which I have been told needs replacement every year, depending on the water softness/hardness), then the water pressure in the cistern (tank) is too high.

*This can be adjusted by the water inlet tube. There is an adjustable cap on the pipeline (inside the cistern) which is ribbed....try lowering the cap to a lower rib-line=this will ensure less water is filled inside the cistern after every flush.

* You may need to "fine tune" the measurement (various line markings)

This will make the ease the water pressure on the rubber washer....and will ensure the water will remain totally in the tank rather than slowly seeping through into the toilet bowl.

Took me ages to work it out, and was driving me potty (excuse the pun)....

THIS WILL WORK!!!
It finally makes sense....!!

put some water proof grease on the rubber are you sure the toilet in not overflowing and rinse out cistern dont use toilet blocks in the cistern good luck

Travis Perkins sell them at about £2.50 each. I just purchased a couple and toilet no longer leaks.

Look under toilet lid and you should see a number. Ring ROCA and they will give you the correct part number.

I've got a Swedish WC with the same problem. The problem started from when it was a new installation. It was first overcome by taking the top off the cistern and filling the cistern suddenly using a bucket of water. This had the effect of seating the seal under pressure at the bottom of the cistern. Problem then didn't recur for about three years. When it did, a repeat of the sudden filling with a bucket cured the problem again. If you have low water pressure/ low flows reaching the toilet, the slightest leak/ grain of debris can let the flow leak at the seal faster than the water coming in, so the level in the cistern never rises enough to create enough pressure on the seal to make it seat properly.
