how to repair your a polaroid dvd protable player PDM-0732?

My DC power supply jack is broke on my DVD player. it work with the battery. So I tried to rebuild the jack but to no avail. What should I do?
Polaroid Portable DVD player with TFT-LCD, has been open so I may even need to do some more technical work.

This is clearly someone who is trying to save a few pennies by doing the work themselves but obviously not having a clue what to do.
Never a successful combination.
Inevitably the unit will end up being scrapped because what would have been a cheap repair job is now beyond economical repair.
