How do I fix the rubber clutch on a Kitchenaid blender?

So the 9/32 didn't fit so after removing the black rubber, with vice grip pilars and a paper towel underneath to protect the blender, I pried the remaining metal clutch up on two sides so I could get a pair of needled nose pliars to hold the shaft while turing the vice grips clock wise to remove.

I didn't have the skinny wrench to fit in the narrow space under the round metal part of the clutch. But, I did have a pair of hemostats and they held the metal shaft still enough to unscrew the metal disk. In a clockwise direction - the opposite of righty tighty lefty loosey. Originally I tried the "pry it off with a screwdriver method". Only succeded in breaking off all the black plastic. Which left a little more space between disk and body of the blender. Then the hemostats fit.

Pull the rubber "feet" out with needle nose pliers on the bottom of the blender. Remove the four screws holding the bottom plate in place. Carefully hold the drive shaft(metal disc in center) with a pliers or locking wrench. Unscrew the clutch clockwise. If it is stuck use another wrench. It is easier if you have an assistant to hold the drive shaft.

You need to use a very flat 9/32 wrench to hold the shaft still. Use a pair of plyers and turn the clutch clockwise (it is reverse threaded) to loosen it. Don't worry about what you do to the clutch, you are putting a new one on anyway, but be careful of the shaft.

The clutch is threaded onto an axle with 2 symmetrical flats. If you look under the clutch with a flashlight and rotate the clutch slowly with your hand you can see the flats. You can use the flats to prevent the axle from rotating in order to unscrew the clutch, similar to how you would prevent a bolt head from rotating in order to remove a nut at the other end.

1)Make sure the blender is unplugged before attempting to do repairs.

2)Use a small wrench with the correct gap that is thin enough to fit between the clutch and the housing or a thin pair of needle-nose pliers to clasp the flats and prevent the axle from rotating.

3)Unscrew the clutch with a set of traditional pliers while preventing the axle from rotating.

4)Hold the axle stable as before and screw on your new clutch by hand until it seats firmly on the axle.

5) Write or e-mail Kitchenaid and complain about this flaw. If you are lucky they might send you a couple of clutches for free. I would guess it is worth the try.
