Painting concrete coping stones?

How can I get masonary paint to adhere to concrete coping stones on my front garden boundary wall without it weathering/ flaking off. I have previously power washed all the algea etc. from the copings and then when dried off, applied two coats of masonary paint but after a while it weathers/flakes off in patches.
