how can I get a stuck vcr tape to come out?

We have a Toshiba VCR & DVD video recorder D-VR4XSU. A tape is stuck and also will not play or rewind. We've tried unplugging the unit for several minutes but that has not helped.

on a newer vcr its probably capstan not lubricated tape is probably going to be damaged if you unplug and stay away from the power supply you can take the lid off and may be able to try rotating capstan free and/or free tape from entanglement you should lubricate and clean the interior of a vcr see owner's manual
