when i push start i hear the door lock a quick buzz and nothing happens?

hi i have been given a IDC8t3 tumble dryer and im trying to get it to work. there is no water empty light on, we cleaned the filters, when you push the start button you hear the door lock but theres just a quick buzz and nothing happens. does it have to have washing in it to start or is something wrong
