4 Lights flashing on Rangemaster Dishwasher?

my dishwasher runs for a bit and then stops and beeps with 4 lights flashing. i noticed another answer on here that said to undo 2 screws at the bottom of the machine and drop down a plate and drain off the water. i've done that and it did help... a bit. it almost completed a wash and then stopped again. Something must be causing the water to drain down onto the plate.... any ideas please?
