canon powershot A480?

should video record sound I checked sounds on the menu and says nothing about recording sounds level only volum for start up vol, operation vol, selftimer vol and shutter vol. Mute is set to off.
Records picture ok but no sound. I can only assume the camera doesn't record sound only video image.
or am I mssing something?
