How to stop pump running - NO water in system?

I have an AEG Favorit - F34300VI0 where the pump is operating continuously. 3 beeps error Code 30 I believe. I've seen a lot of suggestions of tipping the machine every which way to resolve the issue but have had no luck trying this. I've gone as far as completely removing the entire hydraulic system (sump/cassette/water softener/ Integral motor/pump) and emptied all the contents into the sink so there is categorically no water left in the system. Having reassembled the lot and hooked back up the problem still persists. The only thing I didn't do was separate the motor from the pump itself as these are connected via numerous clips, but the impeller spins freely and I couldn't detect any blockages in the pump.

If anyone can suggest a reason this continues I'd be massively grateful. No issue with replacing the parts, just need to identify what's at fault first. Possibly defective Float switch? It would be handy to know if there is more than one of these as the obvious switch is located at the very base of the machine with a styrene float attached. I've detected absolutely no leaks.

I ordered a new float switch believing that to be the problem, Whilst I was waiting for the new one to arrive I took the old out and checked the normally open/ normally closed functions and they seemed to work perfectly. Not entirely sure what else could cause the pump to run constantly, my next guess would be to replace the pressure sensor as surely this is linked to the drainage system in some sense?

I have also replaced the inlet water valve which is integral to the inlet hose with this model apparently so have ruled that out also.

Would it be possible for a pump to have shorted and run constantly or would it need an input signal from somewhere to do so?

Yes & yes. It can be defective, the contacts inside may be corroded enough to give a false reading. Just because it clicks doesn't mean it is a good switch. Take it out or at least disconnect the wires and test with a multimeter.

Thanks for responding!

I left the Float switch situated in the machine, but was able to move it freely enough and here it click so assuming it operates correctly. Could it be that the switch may be defective, seems unlikely given its location and that it still functions. Would it be worth removing and checking with a multi meter do you think?

have you checked the float and corresponding switch are actually working?

Is the float free to move?

Does it correctly operate the switch?

Have you checked the switch is turning on & off?
