How to stop it blowing the fuse?
The flippant answer is to find out the cause of the over current and replace the part that's causing it.
You will need a multimeter set to ohms and use it to look for a short circuit. There's not many things it could be - the motor - the start / run capacitor if there is one - the on/off switch - the plug and cable - and if there's a laser eye then that too might be the culprit.
