Ya, my DC012 is new, been sitting in my office never used. Can hardly hear the volume when turned up full throttle. After surfing the net, I see a lot of the same problem with this dewalt. Must be made in CHINA ! My Porter Cable radio has been working fine for years even after the abuse I put it thru. Guess which one in going in the "JUNK"

There are 3 fuses in the DC012. One is on the reverse side of the PC board which is located on the back side of the battery compartment. The other 2 are located on the power supply board. One is a glass tubular type, the other is a round cylinder plastic case soldered to the board. The amperage is clearly printed on the PCB: 1.6 amp and a 2.5 amp. Since the radio plays on battery power, it's probably not the one on the battery compartment and more likely to be the glass cartridge fuse; but, I'd check all 3 fuses to be certain. Other components could also be suspect including the transformer (120 VAC primary in with 14.5 VAC secondary output).

All electronic components contain smoke, the mystery is how to release it!

I suspect that what has gone wrong is that the internal mains power supply has failed - how you might fix it is another matter - you will need confidence - test equipment (multimeter)and a small amount of experience in diagnosing electrical problems. A circuit schematic might help too but not essential.

Good Luck...
