18v Makita lit/ion battery?

The 18v batteries I have will not work when fully inserted in drill or impact drip, but if I press the release button and pull the battery back about 1/8 in the drills work fine.in my line of work being HVAC this is very annoying.at times the battery falls out of the drill or gets pushed all the way back in and when you are on a ladder you can see where this is going I'm just wondering if anybody has had this happen to them or knows how to fix this.thanks

You did not say and I did not realise in my previous answer - that your batteries might not be official Makita manufacture - if your batteries are third-party ones they may have slightly different dimensions on the contacts.

Mine work fine but they're not used professionally - just as hobby DIY tools.

The tools have three contact strips - Plus & Minus 25 mm long and a third 3 mm connector that must I suppose act as a safety interlock - the ON switch.

My guess is that this short contact is the one that's causing your problem - not always making a connection.

You might try to eliminate the culprit - is it the battery pack or is it the tool? Do you have other tools that work OK or other batteries that do not give problems.

I am convinced based on what you say that there's a failure of the interlock connector - not making a good connection - might it be corroded? You might clean it a bit with sandpaper.

Good Luck...
