Hi Paula, I've worked in diagnostics since the eighties, you do not have to be too frightened (that's just what the manufacturers want!), any garage with a scan tool can do a read out of the stored fault codes. These are stored in the cars engine computer and help in the diagnosis of the repair. I cannot emphasise enough, you do not have to go to a main dealer and pay daft rates
