i have push mower that will not stay on or idle shuts off after a few seco?

i have a push murray mower and the mower will not stay on or idled the last time i used it the mower shut off on me 2x but i was finished with the job and now it wont stay on all together? what can i do? trying to fix it as a woman but dont know where to start..
