Hi,
The fact that the bike is starting is a good sign, it is a good indication that the ignition system is probably ok. What you are describing is still fuel related in my opinion, now that you are getting fuel to the engine it may actually be flooding. Removing jets and the like is ok if you are certain they've gone back exactly right, it is possible to overfuel an engine very easily with an incorrect jet setting.
First thing you should do is start the engine, then without letting the revs drop, adjust the the idle screw. This video is pretty good, the guy seems to have a good grasp on why he's adjusting unlike some of the videos.

Cheers

I have now got fuel going to the sparkplug and it is wet. I have blown all the fuel jets out and checked all the air pips going to the top of the carb. I got it started once and again when you try to let it idle it cuts out, and will not start up after that. I also found a split in one of the wires going to the carb and have repaired that by soldering the wire. I'm still at a loss why it will not start again after it cuts out......

Hi,
I'm not familiar with the bike but most modern bikes have a vaccum fuel supply valve. What this means is that when the engine is not turning there is no vaccum being created via the pipe from the engine to the fuel shut off valve. No vaccum means the valve stays shut so the first thing to look at is if the vaccum pipe is blocked or disconnected (its the pipe that doesn't go to the carburettor).
The other cause could be a blocked fuel filter, but experience has taught me that this usually won't prevent starting but the bike will stutter as you try to pull away and the engine starves.
Your bike uses a lot of electric type components including the valve. Here is the link to a spares supplier

The short description with the part pretty much describes your problem. ( the vaccum pipe goes to the bottom connection)

Hi Thanks for your input and guidance, I have now checked the sparkplug. I have a good spark, but the sparkplug is dry..... It seems to be a fuel starvation problem. Can you give your input on this.... how do I check where the block is? also what can do to get fuel to the plug?

Hi,
A bit sparse on detail so here's a quick guide.
Are you getting a spark, check by removing the spark plug and resting it against the engine block as you spin the engine over. You should see a nice blue spark at the electrode but don't touch the plug as you test it as it hurts.
Are you getting fuel, check the plug after trying to start the engine. If the fuel is getting through the plug will be wet with petrol.
Have you got an air leak, check all the pipes and tubes and all the jubilee clips to ensure that no air leaks exist.
If you have spark, fuel, air then it should start.
Cheers
