Problems with the central locking?

Please can you help my wife's mgzr
limited edition 1.4 2005 has got central
locking problems when she locks the car
she has push down the passenger side button
then use key to lock when she unlocks the
car she uses the central locking device we found that
the drivers door lock was not working so we have
replaced the drivers door latch then we found that
the wires on the tailgate door some had come
apart so we put the wires together again by connectors but the car will still not lock with the
central locking devise please can you advise
