scantronic 9827 keypad error reset?

I have pressed too many keys on my Scantronic 9827 keypad and now have an "rt" (Illegal use of keypad) error message & Fault light - how do I reset these error messages and return to normal working?

As this machine is now out of support, there is no reason why you should not know the code to do this. It is tick tick 0789099. Then wait ten seconds to see if it returns to a blank display with just the green power light. tick means the tick key at the bottom right of the 9800+ keypad.

You can change this code if you are worried that your burglars will know it. It is unlikely your original engineer will have changed it, but if they did and have disappeared, then somebody would need to take the machine apart, which exposes live wires even with the power removed.

If it's a 9800 then IIRC it needs a total power down.So don't be tempted to change the battery with it's mains supply on.

Not only is it dangerous it will still ask for "rr",

So mains off first then change the battery.Close the panel.Restore mains power then enter in your code.

It's a very good panel :)

"bf" (Control Panel Battery Fault)

There is your problem, replace the battery.

Don't forget the Elecktrickery inside the panel, it can kill

Thank you for the good advice

Have now carefully entered my code after not touching the keypad for quite some time; the keypad beeps, and then displays alternating error codes - "rr" (Reset Required) and "bf" (Control Panel Battery Fault)

What should I try now?

A very good engineer that frequents this site has already covered this issue,if you had used the search option at the top of the page then you would of found this:

Don't touch it for 5mins, then go back and enter your code correctly.

If you get it wrong again, WAIT a couple of minutes then have another go.

EXAMPLE >>
If you enter 1235 instead of 1234, realise what you have done and re enter, the control panel sees what you have entered as 12351234, you try again & again eventually you end up with the 'rt' display & the panel locks.

The trick is patience.
