My Humax has cleared the recordings and will no longer record?

Hi have a Humax PVR9200T and have discovered that the programmes recorded have been wiped and it will no longer record though I can still watch TV through it.
Does anyone know if it can be repaired by me or do I have to send it away?

Thanks
David

By reseat , I mean re-seat.

To re-seat the DD cable on the 9200T requires a screw-driver to open up the unit.
(1) From standby-by unplug the Humax from the mains.
(2) Leave the Humax to stand for a while to let some of the residual charge in the capacitors dissipate. WARNING: there may still be some residual charge left in the Humax so be careful what you touch when you open it up.
(3) Unscrew the screw on either side of the Humax and the three on the back.
(4) Remove the lid. Part of the lid slots into the front panel. Once the screws are out position the front of the Humax so that it facing you. I find the best position to remove the cover is to start by using both hands grasp the cover on both sides of Humax with the bottom front edge resting on table/bench/floor.
(5) To re-seat the HDD cable first remove the cable from the HDD. It will be stiff. Be careful not to apply very much sideways pressure when easing it off otherwise you may damage the connection pins.
(6) Re-attach the cable into the HDD and insure that it is fully inserted.
(6) Do the same for the other end of the cable.
(7) Replace the lid before retrying the Humax.

A less likely cause is that the hard drive is on the way out. If the Humax still plays up as described then another option is to use a PC to conduct a full format of the drive to any PC format. It does not matter which format as when the drive is put back in the Humax the Humax will format to the format that it wants.

With the EPG issue getting worse with every new freeview channel that is added personally would not spend any more money on keeping a 9200T going. But the next option after that is to replace the hard drive. There are some 2nd hand Seagate IDE 160GB (35.3 or 35.2) that occasionally surface online. You could be unlucky if you buy one of these as the replacement drive may be past it as well.

Another option to replace the drive is to use a new SATA drive with an IDE/SATA adapter. Unfortunately I do not know which drives would be suitable as the 9200T is fairly fussy. Also the adapter will have to be chosen carefully otherwise the lid will not fit back on.

You have given far too little a description of the state of your 9200T and what you mean by 'no longer record'.

Two of the many possibilities are:
(1)
The index on the hard drive has become corrupt. You need to select the format option on the Humax HDD Control menu.
MENU -> Record -> HDD Control
This menu will also show you whether or not some of the recordings are still on the hard drive.

(2)
Another possibility is that the Hard drive is not being recognised by the 9200T because the internal hard drive connections have become slightly dislodged.
If this occurs you will not be able to pause or rewind live programmes and also when you go into the MENU you will have a Games option instead of the Record option.
When these are the symptoms the usual solution is to take the lid off and reseat the cable that connects the hard drive.
