Hotpoint CTD80 F10 fault?

Hi looking from the rear, remove the plastic drum bearing guard, light grey in the middle held on with 2 screws. Remove the heater carrier ( be careful here not to stress the wiring loom as the wires are pretty tight.Once you've got it off you'll see one of 2 things, if its an early version the heater will be attached to the carrier with 2 small screws, if its the newer one it'll be screwed onto the back panel.If its on the carrier take out the left hand screw and GENTLY pull the heater assembly forward enough to expose the thermostats ( 2 or 3 small round stats with 2 wires on each.The over heat or reset as its sometimes known is the one with a small " doghnut "shape raised on the top with a small hole in the centre. Take a pin or needle and press down gently into the hole until you hear an audible click, thats the stat reset.If its the heater on the back panel its basically the same except you dont need to take the heater screw out. Reassemble and that should be it. ( small note if the overheat has tripped its usually due to overloading or blocked condensor/filters so it's an idea to solve the cause as well as the fault so it doesnt just retrip ) as with all repairs ensure the power is disconnected before doing anything !!!

The f10 error is a heating issue,

there's a problem with either the heating element or the thermostats or associated wiring,.

Unfortunately there isn't a reset button on that model unlike some,

you will have to check the heating element and T/stats for open circuits,using a multimeter.

Unplug the appliance

Remove the bulged panel on the rear of the appliances by removing the philips screws,

this will allow you to access the heater housing.

Remove the wiring conector and undo the philips screws securing the heater assembly,and remove the assembly.

You will notice two or three T/stats mounted to the heating assembly,

yours may have a brown T/stat (usually the one in the middle),

if it has, look on the back for a small hole,gently push a paperclip in to the hole,you should hear a click,.
This click is the T/stat resetting.

If yours doesn't have the resetable stat you will have to check the element and T/stats using the multimeter,

use the continuity setting,no audiable tone indicates a open circuit and a fail of the components.
