no contact when i turn key?

Do you hear a slight click when turn ign if so under bonnet find saddle of wires maybe down side of batt or along back under window plastic connector pull apart check for corrosion or moisture blow into both parts to disperse moisture dry reconnect and seal with insulation tape then try ign again spray with wd40 to keep water out hope this helps

i'm guessing its an automatic? your gearbox inhibitor switch sounds faulty
