how to fix electrolux ew1080f?

hi,
my electrolux front loader ew1080f (about 5 years old) machine keeps stopping during operation and has been coming up with the errors e90 and e40.
So I cleaned out the blue wires in the top/front panel (like it says to on this website for error e90). It seemed to start up fine. Then I put a wet load in to test on the 'spin' cycle, once it started spinning it made a loud /strange whirring noise and didn't seem to be spinning as quick as usual. Then when it did speed up and spin fast, it cut out... all the lights turned off.
it also hasn't been draining the fabric softener.
is this worth trying to fix?!?
