How can I fix the hose on my Bosch PTL1 wallpaper steamer?

Hi ....... thanks for the information on hose repair. The small tabs ( there are 2 of them ) on the ends of the hose ( the connectors ) , can be removed with a bit of fiddling, prise the end of the tab with the dot up with a small screw driver, ( don't stab yourself) , remove the black retaining tab. Pull the hose out, cut off the the damaged section, put a large straw into the flexible neoprene hose section, feed the straw thro the connector ! and ease the neoprene over the inner hose support, you will see it thro the slots, until fully engaged. push the corrugated part of the hose into the connector and refit the retainers in the reverse order. They need a little pressure to re-engage them into the corrugations.....and there you have it, like NEW.

Thanks for this great tip. I did the same as Laurie H and left the inner hose in place. Only thing I did different was to use pliers to get the clips off as I was afraid of damaging the hose. The end of the clip with the raised dot is the one that needs to come out first as it has a flexible clip holding it in. The other end is fixed. A bit like a battery cover on a remote.

I mended my hose on my Bosch PTL1 wallpaper steamer following your advice Aaron.
I haven't tried it out yet....just removed clips.....cut off damaged outer black plastic coil.....but did not cut the inner clear hose. I was worried I may not get it back in as the clear pipe is so thin and it is in there tight.
I just pushed the black outer coil in as far as it would go and put the clips back in. Whether or not cutting the clear pipe shorter(to the same length as the black) will make a difference I do not know as yet.....but I do know the hose is in there tight as it was new

Further to Aaron's post u might need a little soap up the neoprene inner tube to ease re-fitting it after trimming.

Just fixed my brothers steamer, hopefully he wont notice!!...just one point that nearly caught me out, when you slip the screwdriver down into the hose end be careful not to break the plastic, its not as strong as you may think, and watch out for the small black clips too i reckon they wouldn't take much to snap either. otherwise easy fix, no reason to buy a new hose. :)

I effected the repair on a unit that has been loaned to me by a friend. Both ends of the hoze had been taped up and now works perfectly.

Just to say the above answer really does work, I was a bit concerned about cutting the hose, the only thing I would say is when I prised the clips off, it was easier from one end rather than the middle not sure why. Shortly after I fixed the hose, the thermostat was causing the unit to pulse on and off even when the water was still warming up. if this happens to you try a really good descale, the scale build up causes the element themostat to trip out earlier than usual.

The end of the hose assembly has a fitting with two black clips. These fit into the steamer itself and twist, and look to be part of the plastic assembly.
You can slide a thin screwdriver under around the middle of the clips and prise them both off. The are just clipped in.
The outer hose will then come out of the assembly. There is an then inner hose which should pull out of the assembly.
You can the simply cut out the damaged sections, both inner and outer hose, and refit into the assembly and reclip - or replace with different inner or outer hoses. B+Q do a range of hose which may be suitable.

Easy really! Compared to cost + delivery +waiting for new hose.
It may be possible to replace the thin inner hose with a better type of material. Remeber it has to cater for high temps. The B+Q ones may not be suitable.
Please post here if you do find a suitable altenative.
