the phone may be lock to a network say if you buy a phone from 02 then i will be locked to 02 have you tried other net work sims ? when u turn the phone on is there a network logo on screen or on the case
to update the software u can go to lg website
if the phone is locked then u can take it to a shop cost £5 to £10 to unlock or call the network up for a unlock code cost free to £20
