Kitchenaid Stand Mixer?

I was using my mixer to make cookies. Oil leaked out of the mixer shaft into my batter. Can you tell me what is wrong with my mixer. It still seems to work ok.
Thanks

I have a Kitchen Aid mixer model KP50PSBU. I just took it apart. There is A LOT of grease in the gear assembly. It can easily leak out. Its a thick grease so I suspect it leaks after becoming warm. There are two o-rings that may leak if allowed to dry out from lack of use of the mixer.

Norma, I just submitted a question on this board pertaining to this particular problem myself. My Kitchenaid mixer recently leaked so much oil that I'm sure I would damage it without refilling the lost oil, but it is my understanding from research on Kitchenaid's consumer websites that there's no harm in using your stand mixer if less than 1/4 cup of oil is lost. Problem is, exactly how do you ascertain how much oil was lost, especially if your mixer was already sitting in a puddle of oil on the counter (as mine was) the next time you went to use it? Also, Kitchenaid maintains that this oil is a non-toxic vegetable type oil, and that there is no harm in consuming that stinky, smelly, greenish-gray and black gearbox oil that leaked into your batter. Bon appetite!
