Also had this problem, my anti-flood switch wasn't 'resetting'.
When the base fills with water the anti-flood switch will close the water intake valve.
When you tilt the dishwasher to empty and the anti-flood switch doesn't reset then the 1st light fault will start.
Put the machine on its side unscrew the 4x screws from the base plate.
Here you will find the anti-flood switch with the polystyrene float, just check it 'switches' correctly and put back together.
This worked for me on a 10 year old Indesit D41, try this before buying a new inlet valve.

My D41 flooded the kitchen then stopped working, it then wouldn't stop trying to drain the water even when empty. I pulled it out, tipped it back and drained out lots more water. Its working again so far. I think it was the washing machine and dishwasher draining the same time and the drainpipe partly blocked so flooding back inside the machine.

Pulled dishwasher out and tipped it backwards, lots of brackish water came out the back, machine now works but perhaps it needs a new seal!

Yes, ours was flooded base. I got the water out, then it did it again.

I had a further look and discovered that the salt reservoir had become loose and this was then leaking into the base. Tightened up the salt reservoir to make the seal tighter and hopefully that's it!! Last time I filled the salt up the whole thing moved so that must have been it.

Unscrew the base panel from the bottom of the machine. Attached to this is a safety cut-off switch connected to a polystyrene float. Clear all water and debris from this, re-connect base panel and your problem will be solved

Mine did similar. Flashed lights 2 & 3 together. I checked it out and found the water inlet solenoid had a wire loose! Popped it back on and away it went.

Fixed it!
