BT Freelance XD 5500 won't stop talking! HELP!?

I have 2 BT Freelance XD 5500's in my house. The main phone wont stop talking! The robotic voice keeps me up all night saying things like "calls will be answered in 5 rings... times two, three, four, five, six [beep], seven [beep, beep, beep], eight, nine..... [repeat 7 or 8 times, then...] calls will be answered in 7 rings" I have tried pressing buttons to disable it but nothing works, i have tried pressing buttons after the voice says a number- nothing. I have even tried turning answerphone off. It even talks when i am actually on the phone to someone! And it just randomly starts talking throughout the day. It says "calls will be answered after 7 rings" 20-30 times in a row sometimes then starts counting again. The only way i can make it stop is by unplugging it, but then the phones dont work and i cant contact anyone and nobody can contact me! I dont know what else to try, smashing it with a hammer sounds appealing. Please, PLEASE help.
