I Have a Indesit IS70c condenser dryer?

Same here. Unplug machine first ! Remove the tricky plastic surround at the lower back of machine, it is a bit fiddly (you have to prise it up and outwards) once detached from metal back plate the plastic has a lid which pulls up and exposes the pump and water height cut off micro-switch. You can also see water in tray at bottom and probably sludge which stops water from exiting a small hole in corner to the front of filter. If too much water builds up then it lifts polystyrene float attached to micro-switch and cuts machine out. It is normal for some water in tray but not sludge. My pump was fine and also the switch, it was all down to the hole being blocked and raising the water.
Incidently, if anyone suspects heater element as previously mentioned then it can be checked quite easily with a multimeter on the " continuity" setting. It will bleep if element is ok.
Always make sure machine is never plugged in though.

I've just taken the large panel off at the back and got rid of a load of water. I've dried everything and put it all back together. My dryer now appears to be working!

Thanks to those of you who suggested doing that, and good luck to anyone else who has the same problem.

the fault is with a small condenser motor at the back of the machine where the hoses to and from the reservoir connects. the replacement motor is availble for aprox £30. apparently easy to replace

me too, mine also faulted just after warranty ran out. conman came and replaced pump at £70 and it blew same day. Currently trying to get both conman and indesit to sort this problem, not getting anywhere. I dry mine with the hairdryer to get it back working, but i agree we should all complain together!

Yes I had the same after just about 12 mths only.
Also was causing the same trip fault, not nice before 7am and a whinging partner to content with (and no electric).

Im same as george, solved for the moment at least by "drying out the machine". (somewhat ironically)
Some relief at least by pinpointing the dryer was the culprit to tripping the RCD, something of an annoyance to be honest.

I'm not sure about extended guarantees as they can be a bit of a false economy (if the machine won't last 5 years without it, it's not worth getting another the next time around either).

I have just called out indesit - the dryer is tripping the earth leakage system - just on 12 months old - the problem is that because of the location of the water reservoir the condensed water is pumped up to it. Apparently if the filters/condenser is not cleaned regularly it can become blocked and then water gets thrown about onto the electrics (I think at the rear) of the machine (you may actually see water seeping from the unpainted metal cover at the rear of the machine) the cover can be removed by removing several self tapper screws and drying the cover and surrounding area etc. may help. Keep condenser and filter clean.

I have one too, had the same problem. Unplug it, pull out the big filter at the bottom and put your hand to the back of the dryer's filter compartment, you may find its collecting water. Feel around for a small channel, this blocks up sometimes with gunge, you need soak up the water and clean up the gunge. Ive opened up the small grey box on the reverse of the dryer before and cleaned inside (quite fiddley though!) Im now looking for a cheap heater element like the rest of you, if anyone finds any please let me know!

Yes ours is also blowing the house fuse and its two months over its 12 month warrenty. Its in bits in the kitchen at the moment as we noticed the heater elements look as though they could be burnt so looking on Ebay for parts!!! I think I will send a letter into Indesit.

Hi there just been on the phone with the fantastic Indesit with the same problem of heating up (Bought from Littlewoods)I've had driver for a while longer than you all have. I think we should all join together and put in an official complaint maybe then we will be heared. I have also noticed how all of our dryers have managed to pack in around the same time uhmm makes you wonder especially since I just recieved a letter from Creda trying to sell me extended warranty)

PERHAPS I SHOULD HAVE VISTED THIS SITE FIRST! I HAVE STRIPPED THE DAMN MACHINE DOWN AND FOUND THAT THE HEATER ELEMENTS (THERE ARE FOUR OF THEM AND THEY EXTREMELY DELICATE, SITUATED UNDER THE REAR DRUM COVER) HAVE BLOWN. THE SYMPTOMS WERE AS YOU DESCRIBE. SURPRISINGLY THE FUSE ON THE PLUG DIDNT BLOW.

sorry cant help but am having same problem and have email indesit and waiting for a reply because if you look at the rest of answer on the internet we are not on our own there are at lease twelve others with same prob yes mine is a indesit 1s70cand it s just ed over 12 months old by4 weeks and doing the same has yours it seems to me it could be a manufacturing fault

hi there my drier did the same as you mention .to sort this i just unpluged it and removed the back off the motor and left to dry out also clean and dry the lint filter and the large condensor filter clean and dry.it seams to build up condensation in the plastic motor surround causing the motor to short and trip the fuses. hope this helps!!!!!
