recorder will not retain selected channel orde?

have a tvonics DTR-HC250 recorder, works well but since searching for new channels it will not hold my channel selection. each time the set is turned off it retunes to a different mixed up order.
Very annoying, I do not want my grandchildren switching it on and finding adult programs where Children's tv should be. HELP.
