Mend Accenta Hello House

Accenta replacement?

Hello all Iam working at the inlaws house replacing old accenta with newer gen model.Problem!!, how can I stop the external sounder ringing for the duration of the change over?.

I have an understanding of circuits, low and mains voltages etc but is there anyway I can hold it off at the panel end rather than getting the ladders out?.

The sounder is located at the rear of the house above the conservatory so access is going to be tricky.I know I could let it ring but Iam concerned about the noise annoying the elderly neighbours.

Many thanks.

I know exactly what you mean e manno, why have mince when you can have steak,as you know am a scanny man too,and as you know you can buy the complete panel with keypad cheaper than the keypad alone at one time I had six end stations in stock that we robbed the keypads from,i called scanny up and asked how can you justify this?guess what the reply was???????????????we don't need too,:-0

True mate :)

But if an istaller chooses the right supplier??.

The scanny 9651 with rkp is only £12.00 more then a gen4 and around the same for castles euro mini.

You know me mate I'm a scanny man and always will be,but I have to say that an additional rkp for the 9651 is expensive to buy from anywhere as a separate unit.

Besides an installer who knows his stuff would choose the FSL 9651 over the G4 ,12 quid???, FSL???, it's a no brainer, that's what I'm on about mate.

There's some great reliable end user friendly panels out there,so why on earth are installers fitting this Accenta/Optima rubbish?.
The veritas is also low end rubbish (sparks fav).

DIY tat in my opinion.

Nope.

Better use 1amp inline fuse on battery + wire just in case.

Can't believe you asked me that, and you say you understand circuits?,go round and inform the neighbours of your intentions and let it ring man.Probably most of the old dear's will be mutton jeff anyway.

Be safe.

Thanks e manno and yes the gen is here waiting to go in.
Just can not stop! It ringing when we remove the wiring for the sounder that is all.

I have a understanding of what you are saying and does seem the easy alternative considering the access to the sounder,so we will give it a go.

No voltage through the TAMP right?.

Use the battery from old panel.
Think about it!,can't say exactly what to do on here for obvious reasons but if the sounder retains it's voltages????.

I'd also suggest you relocate the sounder to a serviceable position or fit new sounder in better location, have you bought the gen yet?.
