Just a bit more on this. I was still having trouble with intermittent starting on this washer dryer which was solved sometimes by slamming the door really hard, but not other times. So I took the door lock switch assembly out and one contact had signs of overheating on one contact. The best solution is to replace. But you can also repair this switch. The cover is held on by heat melted lugs. I cut these off and inside is a spring and a bimetal strip (this bends with temperature). Nothing obviously wrong so I moved it about to the switched and unswitched position. As I couldn't find a fault I put it back together and it works. For some reason I've found that on old equipment moving things about is sometimes enough to get it working again.
