Not sure of the year when Nissan Micra's went over to a Torque converter CVT from a powder clutch CVT. A powder clutch not releasing properly can squeel coming to rest. If so it may also be difficult to get gears with engine running. Then of course it could be brakes.

check your brake pads, they go hard after a while and as you brake, tends to make the noise you hear. or go to garage offering free brake tests. do not think its the gearbox as you only hear the noise when braking.
