My Ford Mondeo Ghia X sunroof motor is whirring but wont open the sunroof. I think a gear must be slipping. How do I get into the workings to have a look?
go to scrapyard nd pik up a window winder handle off any ford door it fits the sunroof mec

I have done as you suggested. Everything seems to be working OK. I think I need to get into the roof space, where the sliding roof-light mechanism is. I cannot wind it back and forth because there is no handle.

pull out the interior light (2 screws inside) then carefuly slide casing back towards rear of car it will then drop down disconnect switch and move away 3 bolts 10mm hold motor up undo and drop motor and disconnect then can wind back and forward sunroof manually check cables and grease them and check they are not snapped or motor gear gone if so replace either
