safe mode radio?

vectra53 radio, another person struggling to get on...! all i get is 7SAFE (tried a few times.!)and cannot for love or money get - - - - to put in the actual code (even tho i havnt got ?)i have tried to leave ignition a few hours, also disconnected battery to try to re-boot to no avail.. please help before i resort to a wind up radio...thanks tony.

Important:
After the 1st wrong entry of the code number, the display shows:
" 9 - - - - ".
After 10 seconds, the display shows:
" 9 S A F E ".
If you have entered a wrong code two times, 4 dashes will be
shown in the display for about 10 minutes together with the number
of remaining attempts to enter the code.
If you have entered a wrong code, do not turn the unit off until
"SAFE" and the number of remaining attempts for code entry
is shown in the display.
If you have entered a wrong code 10 times, the following appears
on the display:
" D E A L E R ".

if you disconnected battery its starts from being wait time. :(

BASIC INSTRUCTIONS TO ENTER A BLAUPUNKT RADIO CODE
Switch the ignition key ON
Press and hold AS button * and the ON button at the same time
Display Shows SAFE then goes to 10 - - - - with a "Beep" from the speaker
Press Preset Button " 1 "repeatedly until the 1st Digit of your Code is displayed
Press Preset Button " 2" repeatedly until the 2nd Digit of your Code is displayed
Press Preset Button " 3" repeatedly until the 3rd Digit of your code is displayed
Press Preset Button " 4" repeatedly until the 4th Digit of your code is displayed
If the display now shows the correct Code number then
Press Button AS and hold to Enter and if successful there should be a
"Beep" from the speaker and the radio should switch on
