select the photos you require, then right click, and send to the drive you want (d) normally to burn then open the drive and burn to disc.

No. If you are using Windows XP, insert a blank CD and copy the photos from your computer to the drive with the blank CD in it. Windows will then ask you if you want to write the CD. Have a try.
