position of the crank pulley for a 1.9d berlingo?

hi i have been asked to time a berlingo van. the engine is already untimed as the head has bein removed to skim. just need to know where the crank pulley should be positioned, i already know tha the injector pump has a couple of bolts to hold pulley as does the cam. just abit unsure as to where the crank needs to be. somone has already said that there should be a pin that slides through the hole block but im still unsure??? please help
