oh dear, well the reason it will have been stopping is because the engine will have been seizing up(nameley the piston in the barrel)i would suggest bleeding the oil pump before you ride it again !fill her up with 2 stroke oil and then remove the round rubber black plug from the left hand engine case its near the kickstart but a bit lower and further forward, the oil pump is in there ,look inside (u may need a torch) and you will see a cable running into there and it goes onto a pulley on the oil pump you will also see very near it a very small cross headed screw undo it about 2.5 turns this is the bleed screw. you dont need to have the bike running just let it bleed all the air out of the pipework and wait until its a constant flow of oil if you can see bubbles now and again just leave it to bleed before you do it back up this can take a few minutes sometimes .
Then i would suggest a capfull of 2 stroke oil directly into the petrol tank and then give the bike a bit of a rock backwards and forwards to mix the oil with the petrol. Then go for a slow ride on it as it will take a minute or two for the oil to go up the oil feed pipe to the carb but the oil in the fuel should give it a chance to live if its running to badly due to low compression as you have been seizing it up it will at least need a new piston and maybe a rebore aswell but see how it goes first a damaged piston will clean itself up to a certain degree depending on how much metal is missing from it.dont run it out again lol.

i think i found the problem, wen i first got the bike i didnt no were to put they oil, so i took it up to the previous owners house who is part of my family and he told me to put the oil in the wrong place and i only previously found out, so we think its that, what should i do

dna's kill head gaskets, they are rubber ,only use genuine ones not nasty pattern ones also take the thermostat out of the head and leave it out they pack up and stop opening when they are old.p.s hi bb

Maybe the head gasket, water pump, thermostat or blocked radiator, we had one in the shop that was pressurizing the expansion tank, when we took the head off it was warped and full of sludge.
A few ideas to check before you take the head off
1. Is the radiator getting warm?
2. Does the fan come on?
3. Try starting the bike with the top off the expansion tank and see if there's any pressure there, is it blowing water out of the tank, this will indicate a blown head gasket
4. Try removing the thermostat and running the bike without it, if it doesn't overheat then its the thermostat.

Best of luck let me know how you get on

These are watercooled. Have you checked the water?
You may have a air lock in the system.
does it run ok and when does it overheat
