Bentone oil fire cutting out after 5 seconds, how can i fix?

The heater [Bentone Sterling 40 ST108PL]has worked for 3 days ok, then one evening switched it on, it fired up ok, then it cut-out 5 secs later, so pressed "reset" & it fired up again, but cut out 5 secs later,i did this four times, [by now the water was very slightly warm] then i checked the oil supply to pump-- ok, plenty, i think the flame sensor must be ok otherwise it wouldn't fire-up, is it possible that the "fuel solenoid valve" on top of the pressure pump has an intermittent fault, other than those items i'm not sure what the cause for the malfunction is, thank you to anyone who takes the time to read & answer this problem, Bryan, lincs.

The problem is the control box(where the reset button is) I'm on my third since the boiler went in 11 years ago.

I have the same burner with the same problem. When I hit reset it does run for ten seconds, then ignites and burns for 5 seconds before cutting out. I have cleaned the cell and the filter and replaced the jet. Anyone got a solution?

The burner should not fire as soon as reset is pressed, the fan only should run for about 12 secs before oil is injected and the burner fires, the fault you describe is due to a faulty solenoid valve stem on the danfoss oil pump. the stem can be repalced by removing the black coil from the pump (allen key) and thern unscrewung the valve stem using 10mm spanner, fit new stem and coil in reverse order and hey-presto your problem will be solved.. Thats what you should be paying an OFTEC Engineer to do.

I have the same problem with a very old Hotspur boiler. An heating engineer has explained that the flame sensor heats up and operates a switch which tells the contoller that a flame has been detected. My sensor is not doing this. I am also told that if the sensor is heavily carboned up a gentle clean with emery paper may fix it - it didn't work for me and the sensor is no longer available. For me a new boiler is the only answer.

hitting reset tells you something is wrong, oil parts related, control [yes even flame sensor]motor etc. Most of the time its oil parts,do yourself a favor and get a tech.
