How can I shorten multi link metal watch bracelet?

I have a watch where the multi link bracelet (NOT the expanding type) is so long that I need to remove several links to obtain an optimum fit.
(Moving the end one half of the bracelet further inside the over centre locking clip does not allow a satisfactory adjustment)
Its not obvious how to do this, since the end of each link seems blanked off limiting access to any pins that hold the links together, & which might allow link removal.
Can any one please outline the correct procedure & indicate if special tools are needed.
Thanks

I have a Seiko watch with a multilink band. It was difficult to figure out, but it can be done. Each set of links are united by a U formed bridge. Inside where the arrows are, next to a little hole with a bump on it, you have to put a small screwdriver or pointed item so to be able to move the bump toward the outside of the link, about 1/8 of an inch, and then you will be able to see the bridgepart of the U and with a small plyer be able to pull it away from the band. Then you have to sort of unhook it or unlink it by slightly twisting the band toward you to remove the link. You repeat this until you have reached the size of the band you need or have taken away the number of links necessary, and then you hook the 2 ends together and push the U bridge back into the 2 connecting links and then you are finished. Good luck!!

Check this out. It is probably working. I guess many of the watchbands are done the same way.

along the edge of the strap you will see the pin heads, these are in fact split and bobbled so just push them out with a dart or something like, and when replacing make sure bobble on outside and push with a hard flat surface
