Glow plug warning light in 2003 Ford Transit 75ps?
Yesterday my transit diesel had a few instances of the engine cutting out while driving, the glow plug light flashed then when it went off I managed to start it up again. This morning it wouldn't start at all and a mechanic came, towed it to his garage and now says it needs a new pump for 550 euros - didn't mention I'm in italy for a few weeks - any idea if this is legit or is he just trying to rip me off? (he wouldn't be the first to try it here so I'm a bit suspicious)
i have a ford transit conect 90 ps tdci and mine had a few time when the glow plug warning light comes on and the engine cuts out but then fires up straight away again,mine bin on the ford diagnostic machine and im told it could be pump or a metering unit or egr valve,il let you no the outcome tommorow!

im having this problem with my 2001 transit 90 t350 and aparently its the egr valve

The Glow plug light coming on means that the engine management system has picked up a fault, it could be the pump but if the garage doesn't have the Ford WDS system how do they know what the fault code is, it could be a whole manner of things.
