How can I change the oil filter on a Vauxhall Corsa 1.0 ls?

How can I change the oil filter on a Vauxhall Corsa 1.0 ls?

Wanted to change my oil & filter on a new shape Corsa 07 1.2 and didn't have a clue after purchasing the new filter which was paper! But was pointed in the right direction by using the answers on this site! However, had a bit of a mare and wanted to pass on some info...for a start the oil has to be fully synthetic which cost me £35 for 5 litres!!! Firstly, the sump plug is not a nut and needed to buy some star shaped fittings that fit into a socket set to undo the plug. But the mare was having drained the oil and removed the filter I found that the new filter was too wide for the holder. At first I thought I'd been given the wrong one by Halfords but according to their computers it is the right one. Took it back along with old filter but couldn't get right one. Dealer was shut as it was late sat afternoon and I went all over but couldn't get one. Ended up ordering one which will arrive mon pm and my car is stuck on drive out of action. Have heard this problem is due to this Corsa still being new and compatable filters not widely available yet plus duff info at Halfords! Dead easy to do job though just don't make same mistake as me!

to the right of the engine block on the gear box side of the engine half way down you will see a large black oil filter housing it is plastic it is unscrewed by using .. i think its a 32 mm socket but not certain it is large though ... place some cloth under the housing before removing to prevent oil dropping down to the gearbox, then remove the housing, the filter normally stays inside it is a yellow paper filter on your model of corsa then with your new oil filter you should have got a new rubber seal with it , you must change the rubber seal on the oil filter housing when replacing the oil filter as when removing you can damege the seal therfore it will leak. before you go about doing all this though you should always change the engine oil before removing the filter. drain the oil from the sump ( underside of car ) you will need a t-45mm (torx ) socket and a ratchet make sure you have the rubber seal for the sump bung also. once you have drained the oil then do the above and change the oil filter as i explained. you corsa will take 3.2 liters of oil when you have replaced the filter and you go about putting in the new oil

I had this problem, its in the engine bay, not actually under the car. Its a rather big cup kinda thing. Its plastic, black and is pretty much right next to the engine block. Just to the right of where you actually put oil in. Took a bit of twisting, but it finally comes off. Beware though oil will spill out. Just pull the old filter out and replace with the new one :)
