Nissan mica windscreen wipers broke does any1 know how to fix please?

Hi I have a Nissan mica 2001 and I was driving my car and the windows screen wiper just stopped working in heavy rain. . Took all the parts off and worked out the connection in the middle of the metal had come off so put that back in put noticed where the windows wipers sit on the rubber has split. . Which when I put the windows wipers back on they never sat properly on the bottle of the window cab I just replace the rubber? Also when connecting the middle arm back together does the rubber need to be over the metal part?

to get at the motor first lift the bonet right next to the windscreen is a plastic gill the motor is located below that, remove windscreen wipers 14mm spanner the nut are located below 2 black caps just prize them off to reveal nuts, next undo two small plastic screws on far left and right of plastic gill.there is a rubber that runs along the front of that gill remove clips as they hold the front down.remove the washer hose on the left side and remove gill. if like my wiper problem there is a ball joint on the motor arm that popped out if broken it will cost approx £170 there are no aftermarket part for this part but you may be able to get second hand parts linkage and motor £70 but you can always jerririg it by bending the plastic ball joint inwards where it broke.or it may be its just popped off without any damage and just pop back on. hope this helps as i just done mine

Hi Billie, if you can still hear the motor running when you turn on the windscreen wipers its possible that the socket may have just popped off the ball joint.

You can pop the bolt covers off (where the windscreen wipers are bolted to the car), unscrew the bolts and remove the windscreen wipers. Then take off the plastic cover which should gives you access to the arm, to give you a better idea of whats gone wrong.

I found that the plastic socket had come off the metal ball joint, so went to a local nissan parts dealer and bought a retainer for about 60p and fitted it.
