My proform xp 550e treadmill's incline is stuck going up?

My Proform XP 550E treadmill's incline is stuck going up it keeps making a clicking noise trying to go up more. It will not go down, I am afraid to leave it on to reset because it makes a loud clicking noise. Can someone help, what can I do?

My treadmill has done it twice. I unplug it for a while and then plug it back in. When I do it keeps trying to go up but then gives up and goes back down. I leave it on the #5 incline all the time now. Works great.

I had the same problem. Since I have an extended warranty with Sears, I called them. They put me in touch with a technician who told me to unplug the machine for a total of 2 minutes. After the 2 minutes, I plugged the machine back in and turned it on with the magnet key and the machine recalibrated and everything was back to normal.

I had the same problem when I tried to get on the treadmill today. The incline went up by itself and wanted to keep going even when it was fully inclined. I was able to get it to go down using the buttons, but as soon as it would get flat it would start inclining again. I got it flat AGAIN and turned it off.

I opened it up and unplugged the black and red wires from the top of the incline motor and turned it back on...it took a second to "unrecognize" the incline but then at least the rest of the system worked so we can run on it flat. Now I will see if i can find a replacement motor maybe? :( hope this helps

I have an older Proform 990 model. It stuck going up and after tearing the treadmill down I found that the switch that raises and lowers the deck was stuck in the up position. You can tell after removing the switch because when pressing either button it should click (actuating the switch on/off). I removed the switch and pushed on the buttons until the up portion of the button began to click again.

Fix: Remove the screws to theconsole (where the up/down incline button resides) and either remove and fix or replace. Remember not to pay too much for the parts because used treadmills are not worth much .

Hope this helps!

I am experiencing the same problem with the incline. I removed and re-aligned the metal part/motor that inclines the unit. But, as soon as I turned back on (it got stuck again). I think it might be a switch or a control board. I will try to find more and get back to you guys. It looks like everyone is the same problem.

Mine is doing the same thing. I've had it about 2 years and it's been great, then it starts making a clicking sound and that's it. I pushed it down and think I broke the incline part. Hope i didn't ruin it. If I could get the reset button to reset. I just would happy to walk flat. Does anyone know what to do?

I have the exact same problem on a Proform 545s that I just bought used . . . did you have any luck getting your question answered or your treadmill repaired?

Thanks
