Why does my peugeot 206 keep cutting out on me?

Walk away.I bought a 2004 206 in excellent condition for my son but it cut out at roundabouts almost killing him.Garage had it for a month could not fix it .Shortest ownership of any car.Dealer took it back in exchange for new Citigo on cheap finance. I almost had a breakdown (nervous) myself over this car. Peugeot.never again!!

I had exactly the same problem and am posting this just to help anyone who suffers.

I replaced the Plugs, Coil Pack and Fuel Inlet Valve all to no avail.

As a last resort I changed the water temperature sensor at a cost of 12 pounds - that fixed the problem

Peugeot 206's use some form of algorithmic calculation based upon sensor readings. As it was getting inaccurate data it's response was just to shut down the engine!

my power just cuts out, then takes a while to start again. really worried about driving it now. its been on machine but no faults found

I work for peugeot and my advice is to walk into the service department and ask for some free advice and ask what it might be, the best person to speak to is the workshop controler they seem to know more than the people behind the desk.

my peugeot 206 2L HDI has been doin this for a year it been off the road last 5 months its such a nice car thought id put it back in the garage for a 4th time its been on engine and ignition computer 3 times no faults ,although the engine light on ,had mew pump and injectors and other people iv read have tried this and more its been to 3 different really good garages and 1 of them deals with peugeot (plus i live with a machanic but he's sick of it !!!!) im pulling out the garage seems to me reading loads of different forums the cars never get sorted !!!! DONT NO HOW PEUGEOT GET AWAY WITH IT !!!well dangerous cutting out when imturnig into a road with my kids in the car with no power stearing!!!

my peugeot keeps cutting out on me mid drive, round bends etc and has nearly caused me to have an accident on many occasions. the engine light will come and and i have no power at all, so i will then turn the ignition back on and it will start right away but then cut out when i come to slow down again.

please could you tell me what the problem is as the garage couldn't find anything wrong with it.

Mine did this and it turned out to be a faulty crank sensor. Replaced and reprogrammed and now running fine :) I know what you mean about the danger, I lost power steering going round a tight corner on a steep hill and just missed sliding off the edge of the hill!

I had the same problem about a year ago, and it turned out to be I needed new software downloaded to the engine management system. You will have to go to your nearest Peugeot dealer to have it done, cost approx £58 in total.
